If you were one of the lucky ones attending Esbjerg’s coolest harbor festival this year, you might not have realized that where the “Horisonten” stage stood, the harbor cranes normally lift around 70,000 tons annually, up to 300 offshore containers circulate there daily, and over 30 hardworking baseworkers are employed right where you stood singing along to "Natteravn".
When the festival site is being set up, we aren't just moving equipment; in practice, we are relocating an entire operation.
In fact, the relocation of the operational area has been in the works for over ten months, with the actual move beginning back in June. It involves far more than just moving containers; it also entails, for instance, the relocation of everyone House of Offshore Innovation, the base’s lunch and break rooms (including restrooms, office spaces, and the like), and vehicle and staff parking areas, as well as the rerouting of up to 30 ships during this period.
All this is taking place while daily operations continue virtually unchanged.
Relocating an operation of this scale is not as simple a task as it might seem when you step onto the site at noon on a Friday to hear Omar open the “Lanternen” stage. Yet, it is a powerful example of the qualities that best define NorSea Denmark and our employees: flexibility, collaboration, and the ability to find solutions amidst unfamiliar and changing circumstances.
But now the festival fences are gone, the area is returning to its usual state, and the final elements of the operation have been moved back into place. Everything is gradually getting back to normal.
Thanks for this year, Suset! See you next summer, when we’ll do it all over again.
