By 2025, NorSea Denmark wants to be the first zero emissions offshore base operation in the world. To propel forward this objective, 1,708 solar panels have been set up on one of the offshore supply base’s warehouses.
NorSea Denmark is dedicated to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, one of which is a call to climate action. By transitioning to sustainable energy, NorSea Denmark takes actionable steps away from fossil fuels as well as working towards ensuring reliable, clean, and affordable energy sources, thus working towards a reduction in our carbon footprint and contributing to a greener future.
The green energy we produce will be used to power our electrical trucks and cars to sustain our base operation and daily workflow. The solar panel system can potentially generate 668,400 kWh per year.
Furthermore, an electrical substation has been installed. This substation connects us to Esbjerg city’s electricity distribution network, and we are now able to supply Esbjerg and the surrounding areas with the excess power we produce.
Facility & Property Senior Manager Henrik Munk Andersen is delighted with the successful project: “We have a responsibility to lead the industry and demonstrate that it is possible to run a healthy and sustainable business on green energy. Our base operation is one of the very best in the world, and now we are doing it in alliance with the environment and the nature around us.”
In May, we acceded to Esbjerg Municipality’s official climate partnership agreement, which obligates us to our commitment of a CO2-neutral offshore base operation no later than 2025. The installation of these solar panels marks a significant stepping stone in our mission to accomplish this goal, and we look upon a greener future in the energy industry with great anticipation.
